The best way to remove sticky gum from clothing, fabric or furniture is to rub
an ice-cube over the gum and then gently scrape it off with a table knife when
it begins to harden and crumble. Rubbing alcohol and fingernail polish remover
will have the same effect as ice. To remove any stain left behind, use a grease
solvent. Better yet - send it to the dry cleaner.
Bubble
gum stuck to the face can be removed in a novel way, say the experts. Chew the
remainder of the gum in your mouth. Then apply it to the remnants on your face -
the rags of that glorious bubble will stick to the wad and come home.
One thing that is impossible to remove is chewed gum stored in a pants
pocket and then washed in the washing machine by an unsuspecting parent.
You have two choices here - cut out the pockets or throw the pants away.
For that matter, no drycleaner or alchemist consulted had any magic
formulas for removing gum. All they volunteered were answers like "Hard
work," "Impossible," and sad shakes of the head. What America needs is a
good self-destructing gum wad! You could make a million bucks.
